Man charged with assault on person accused of sexual assault

TOLEDO, Ohio – A South Toledo man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly attacked a person who was allegedly sexually assaulting his girlfriend.

According to Toledo police, 50-year-old Gilberto Sanchez confronted a person who was accused of sexually assaulting Sanchez’s girlfriend. According to a Toledo Municipal Court document, Sanchez then allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times.

Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Lucas County Jail at approximately 8:20 p.m. He was charged with first-degree assault.

The severity of the other person’s injuries is unknown at this time.

Sanchez is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Monday.
