Anita Baker leaves a stadium full of angry fans in Atlanta

R&B singer Anita Baker has done it again. Here has The root, we’ve been following all the drama that has erupted around the legendary artist’s concerts over the past year, from ask fans to turn off their cell phones during a show in Houston in December 2023 for her beef with Babyface and his fans last summer, due to Baker’s alleged diva-like behavior, which resulted in their tour being cut short.

This time, Baker left a lot of angry moms, aunts and grandmothers at State Farm Arena in Atlanta on May 12. Fans who thought they were getting a special Mother’s Day show from “Giving You The Best That I Got” weekend. The singer was left hanging when the show was canceled at the last minute.

According to TMZ, the venue released an email simply explaining that Baker’s show was canceled “due to late and unforeseen circumstances.” They added that ticket holders would receive a refund. But that didn’t stop Black X (formerly known as Black Twitter) from gaslighting him for leaving them hanging.

“Y’all…Anita Baker canceled her show minutes before it started and my aunt (who is at the arena for the show) texted the family chat group and said “it’s that’s why she was always cheated on, she’s an unreliable girl. *tch, ” one user wrote.

It was my Mother’s Day gift and how about she cancel the concert while we were waiting in line! » TikTok user @cocanails captioned a video about the incident which has since received over 2.8 million views to date. “I spent $180 for the ticket and $55 for parking. It’s trash.

While we certainly hope Anita is healthy, at this point it might be time for her to sit down. She’s upsetting a lot of longtime fans and could soon find herself in the same boat as Lauryn Hill.
