Colden woman sentenced for causing crash that killed three passengers

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — A Colden woman has been sentenced for causing a fatal crash on Millersport Highway in Amherst that killed her three passengers.

In April, the 19-year-old woman pleaded guilty to three counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the crash on February 20, 2023.

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office said that at the time of the plea, the judge agreed to sentence her as a juvenile delinquent on the conditions that she not be arrested, comply with the pre-sentencing investigation and appear in court for sentencing. She was eligible for a juvenile delinquent sentence because of her age at the time of the crash.

According to the district attorney’s office, during the plea proceedings, prosecutors stated the prosecutor’s opposition to sentencing her as a juvenile offender.

On Monday, she was sentenced as a juvenile offender to a prison term of 1 1/2 to 4 years and her driving license was revoked.

Azathiel Pabon, 18, Isabella French, 19, and Dakota Eldridge, 20, were killed in the crash. The woman and a fourth passenger, a 17-year-old boy, were taken to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries.

Prosecutors said the woman’s reckless driving was the cause of their deaths.

In April, 7 News spoke to Robbie Augustine who came forward to share his voice to remember the life of Isabella French.

“Bella was a very loving person. She was a great person to be around. She had such a strong, loving personality. She really showed that she cared for the people she loved through her friends and family, through her everyday actions,” Augustine shared.
