Massive piece of Western New York history destroyed (PHOTO)

One of the worst starts to a week in Western New York history left an iconic bar burned and another important piece of local history destroyed.

Before dawn, the emblematic bar Old pink was ravaged by flames, considering the building a “total loss”. Then, hours later, an unexpected collision destroyed a piece of Western New York’s nearly 50-year history.

On Monday shortly after 2 p.m., a vehicle appeared to have struck the giant cone of the Kone King, toppling the iconic monument.

Firefighters attended the scene, checking for possible injuries and assessing the damage to the building. Luckily, everyone was okay – well, except for the iconic giant ice cream cone.

Although the giant cone fell, many people in the community are praising it for saving the lives of these employees. Without the cone, would there have been no injuries?

Other community members suggested erecting concrete barriers outside Kone King. This way, if someone enters the building again, they will not be able to reach the building and collide with it.

Customers are hoping to find a way to put the cone back in place at the Kone King in West Seneca.

A West Seneca resident wrote on Facebook: “I absolutely need an exact replica of this Kone! Childhood memories of going there every summer! I’m glad everyone is okay and safe!

It’s unclear how long it will take to install a replica of the grandiose cone we know, but hopefully it will be restored to its former glory before the end of summer.
