Tutor receives 20 years of unemployment benefit for sexual abuse of minors in Kurukshetra

A fast-track court has sentenced a man who sexually abused a minor girl to 20 years in prison, Kurukshetra Deputy District Attorney Pradeep Malik said on Thursday.

The case dates back to January 18, 2021, when the minor’s father complained that his son, then a Class 10 student, and daughter, then in Class 8, were going to Mehta’s classes. Later, the son admitted that Mehta was serving them intoxicating substances and sexually abusing the daughter.

The case was filed at Pehowa police station and investigated by Sub-Inspector Kamlesh Kumari.

During the hearing of the case, the Special Court found Mehta guilty under Section 6 of the Child Protection Act and sentenced him to 20 years in prison and a fine of 60,000. He was also found guilty under Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ), for which he received seven years in prison and a fine 50,000 dollars in fines. He must also spend two years in prison and 2,000 fine under Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
