Baltic Deli

Roswell is the center of the Eastern European population of the Atlanta metropolitan area. So it makes sense that Baltic Deli, one of the area’s newest Polish establishments, opened on Old Alabama Road in late 2023. Customers are greeted by a moderate selection of shelf-stable items, including fish in preserves, jams, chocolates, other sweets and, of course, several shelves filled with various pickles. Towards the back, there’s a butcher counter stocked with fresh cuts, sausages, Chicago kielbasa and a few cured meats, like Hungarian Black Kassel salami. Baltic Deli recently began serving hot lunches, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Offerings include croquettes served with a cup of herbed borscht for dipping, schnitzels and chicken stuffed with dill, peppers and sheep’s milk cheese.

Beksa Lala

Basia Piechoczek’s Polish pop-up, named after her childhood nickname (“beksa lala” translates to “whiny”), is the newest addition to the Eastern European dining scene of the metropolitan region. Piechoczek makes a point of including lighter options, like the power bowl, in addition to hearty Polish staples like kielbasa, pierogi and gołąbki (cabbage rolls stuffed with pork or ground beef, onions and rice). Beksa Lala is at Burle’s Friday and Saturday nights and occasionally appears at Boggs Social & Supply for brunch. At the latter, try the bloody Marysia; a plate of sausages with eggs, potatoes and mustard accompanied by a shot of buttermilk; or chocolate babka French toast.

EstoEtno is best known for its ultra-soft rye breads and simple pastries.
