Neighbour arrested for raping minor

A man was arrested on suspicion of raping an eight-year-old girl in a village in Dudhi police station area on Wednesday, police said.

“An eight-year-old girl was raped by her neighbour on Monday. We arrested one Ram Khelawan (48), an accused in the case, on Tuesday evening,” said district collector Pradeep Singh Chandel. “The accused lured the minor girl, who was playing outside her house, to a secluded place and raped her. He also threatened the girl and asked her not to tell anyone about the incident,” Chandel added, quoting the police complaint.

The girl informed her parents about the incident, who then contacted the police and filed a report on Monday.
