Porto’s premises were searched as part of an investigation into the suspected illegal sale of tickets to the football club’s matches, Portuguese police confirmed on Monday.

Thirteen people have been charged in connection with the investigation. Around 4,000 tickets as well as 44,000 euros (US$47,000), computers and documents were confiscated.

Porto’s premises were searched as part of an investigation into the suspected illegal sale of tickets to the football club’s matches, Portuguese police confirmed on Monday.

Thirteen people have been charged in connection with the investigation. Around 4,000 tickets as well as 44,000 euros (US$47,000), computers and documents were confiscated.

Portuguese police are investigating the existence of a network suspected of illegally distributing and selling tickets, involving club employees and members of a fan group.

Porto confirmed searches carried out on Sunday, particularly at a shop at the Do Dragao stadium, and vowed to cooperate with investigators in what police dubbed the “Golden Ticket” operation.

Porto is currently in third place in the Portuguese league table, having won the title last week from Sporting Lisbon. They will face Sporting in the Portuguese Cup final on Sunday May 26th.

Former Porto, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur coach Andre Villas-Boas was elected president of the club in April.
