Police: Group of teenagers arrested after escaping from stolen vehicle

KEWANEE (25News Now) – Kewanee police say six juveniles were arrested after stolen vehicles were found at a gas station.

According to police, a flock camera located a vehicle stolen in Peoria that had just entered Kewanee around 4:15 a.m. Thursday.

The vehicle and another vehicle that was stolen in Brimfield but not yet reported were found at Becks on Tenney Street.

According to police, five youths fled when they saw the officers. One was immediately arrested and a sixth was found in the gas station.

The other four were found and taken into custody.

Police said they were arrested and taken to the police station, where they were classified as juveniles and released to their guardians or DCFS.

Police also thanked those in the community who saw the youths running away or hiding.
