Atlanta Dream vs New York Liberty Prediction and Picks for June 30, 2024

Tea Atlanta Dream (7-9) are getting prepared to take on the New York Liberty (15-3) on Sunday afternoon in Eastern Conference action at the Barclays Center. The Dream are coming off a 78-74 road win against the Connecticut Sun on Friday. The Liberty are coming off Tuesday’s 94-89 home loss to the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner’s Cup. This will be the third of four games against one another as the Liberty won each of the first two games.

Dream Need to Wake Up

The Atlanta Dream are doing decently well in the early portion of the season but are beginning to struggle in their last couple of games. The Dream have been playing poorly offensively as the team is averaging 76.0 points per game while connecting on 39.8% of their shots. This Atlanta team is shooting the three at a lesser rate as well as they are connecting on 31.7% from deep. The Dream have been doing a decent job at the charity stripe as they have a team free-throw percentage of 79.0. With center Tina Charles’ 13.8 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, she can definitely continue to lead the way for Atlanta.

The defense has been doing decently well for the Dream as they are fifth defensively, giving up 80.5 points per game. This team has the defense to keep them in games and needs to figure out how to play a more sound brand of offense to get back to .500 basketball.

Liberty Dominating Up to This Point

The New York Liberty have been playing extremely well in the early portion of the season and need to figure out how to continue winning games to surpass the Connecticut Sun as the biggest threat in the Eastern Conference. They are coming off a 94-89 home loss to the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner’s Cup Championship Game. However, their offense is the best in the WNBA with 88.1 points per game and shooting 46.3% as a team. They are shooting very well in the other aspects with 35.7% from three and 84.3% from the charity stripe. With guard Sabrina Ionescu’s 19.3 points and 6.7 assists this season, the Liberty are set to be playing at an even better level going forward.

The New York Liberty have been doing outstandingly well throughout the season on the defensive side of things as they are third in the league with 78.4 points per game given up. They have been one of the best teams in the sport this entire season and show zero signs of slowing down.
