Juvenile suspects charged after swatting incident and bomb threats in Daviess County

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Three juveniles have been charged following a “swatting” incident that occurred in Daviess County earlier this week.

According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, a caller reported to Owensboro – Daviess County Central Dispatch that he killed his family at a home on Sheffield Drive on June 9. Officers arrived at the scene and spoke with the homeowner, who told them everyone in the home was fine and they did not know who called dispatch.

Later that same day, a second call came into dispatch. The caller gave the same address and again told authorities that they had killed their family. Officers again responded and made contact with the residents of the home to check that everyone was OK.

A news release said officers received information about possible suspects from Owensboro Police Department detectives on June 12. A DCSO investigator spoke with the three juvenile suspects, who reportedly told the investigator they made the call “for fun.” An investigator also viewed a video the juveniles made of themselves calling dispatch.

Owensboro police also confirmed that the same three teens were charged with making bomb threats against a Planet Fitness gym on Frederica Street on multiple dates beginning June 6. OPD detectives say the three also threatened to blow up a Domino’s pizza if they didn’t pay $12,000.

All three juveniles were charged for their involvement and booked into the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center. Due to the suspects’ ages, their identities are not being released.
