Clovis man arrested for online solicitation of a minor

CLOVIS, NM (KFDA) – New Mexico State Police arrested a Clovis man for online solicitation of a minor.

On May 6, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau worked with the Air Force Office of Special Investigations to initiate a child abuse investigation.

According to officials, 26-year-old Miguel Garza agreed to meet with an undercover agent posing as a 14-year-old girl on May 13.

According to officials, Garza disclosed that he wanted to have sexual intimacy with the 14-year-old who was undercover.

Officials say Garza planned to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old girl at a local hotel.

Officials say Garza arrived at the hotel around 8 p.m. and was taken into custody by NMSP and OSI agents without incident.

According to officials, Garza was charged with solicitation using an electronic communications device, which is a third-degree felony.

This investigation is ongoing.
