Man drowns in boating accident in Perry County

According to the Perry County 911 dispatcher, a man died Sunday morning after the boat he was in overturned along Shermans Creek in Wheatfield Township.

According to emergency dispatch, emergency crews were called around 8 a.m. to a section of the creek on Dugans Mill Road, just downstream of the historic Delville Covered Bridge.

According to dispatchers, a man was rescued from a small boat or canoe. Another man was rescued from the water and pronounced dead. He was transported from the scene by the coroner’s office.
