Watch: MASTODON Plays ‘Secret’ Concert at Atlanta Bar

MASTODON played a “secret” concert under the BIG HAIRY ELEPHANT banner last night (Tuesday, July 16) at the Star Bar in Atlanta, Georgia. The show served as a warm-up concert for MASTODON‘s “The Ashes of the Leviathan” Headlining the tour, b>LAMB OF GOD and its co-stars, the band will kick off on July 19 in Grand Prairie, Texas. The two iconic bands join forces to celebrate the 20th anniversary of two landmark releases: LAMB OF GODThe best-selling album of “Ashes of Awakening” And MASTODONThe acclaimed second album by “Leviathan”both released on August 31, 2004. Both bands will perform their respective albums in their entirety. Special Guests KERRY KING And MALICE will accompany you throughout the tour, with DISCOVER on certain dates.

THE “The Ashes of the Leviathan” The North American Arena and Amphitheatre will take place MASTODON And LAMB OF GOD The tour will continue across the United States and Canada, culminating on August 31, the 20th anniversary of each album, in Omaha, Nebraska at the Astro Amphitheatre. The tour will also make stops at iconic venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado and the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California. See the full tour itinerary below.

Additionally, both bands will support a charity of their choice throughout the tour, and fans will have the opportunity to donate when purchasing their tickets.

MASTODON will support the Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research. After their manager Nick John tragically died of pancreatic cancer in 2018, MASTODON partnered with the organization and raised nearly $60,000 to fight the disease and support researchers and patients around the world. Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research focuses on finding a cure for pancreatic cancer and empowering patients and families whose lives are affected by this disease. Founded in 1997, the Hirshberg Foundation funds groundbreaking scientific research, provides patient education and support, and keeps alive the hope that this cancer will be eradicated once and for all.

“Leviathan”released on Relapse recordswas MASTODONThe first concept album, loosely based on the 1851 novel “Moby Dick” by Herman MelvilleThree magazines named the LP “Album of the Year” in 2004: Revolver, Bye ! And Terrorist. In 2009 and 2015, Metal Sucks appointed “Leviathan” the best metal album of the 21st century. “Leviathan” was also released with an audio DVD in a limited edition box set with a black and gold case.

MASTODONThe latest studio album by “Silent and sinister”a double LP recorded at the band’s studio in Atlanta, The sound of the West Endwas produced by David Bottrill (TOOL, RUSHING, MUSE, PIERRE GABRIEL). This album, their most expansive song cycle to date, features 15 distinct tracks and achieved their third consecutive No. 1 on the Billboard Ranking of hard rock albums. “Silent and sinister” also earned them a Grammy Awards nomination for the song “Pushing back the tides”. In addition, the single from the album “Drinker of tears” achieved a top 10 position on the rock radio charts, further testament to the band’s widespread fame.
