7-year-old girl dead, grandmother injured in south Houston house fire

A 7-year-old boy has died in a house fire in south Houston.

The fire was reported at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Friar Point Road. The flames were extinguished, but two people were seriously injured. A boy was later reported dead, while the child’s grandmother was taken to a nearby emergency room. His condition is not currently available.

Three other children were also in the burning house and were able to escape.

Houston Fire Department investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the house fire.
