Motorcyclist killed in accident on 1st Avenue in Cedar Rapids

The motorcycle collided with a car turning left onto 27th Street NE

CEDAR RAPIDS – A motorcyclist was killed in an accident in Cedar Rapids Friday evening.

Preliminary results of the crash investigation indicate the motorcycle was traveling southbound on First Avenue when it collided with a northbound car that was turning left from First Avenue onto 27th Street NE, according to a Cedar Rapids police news release.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead a short time later, the press release said.

The accident occurred at approximately 8:47 p.m. Cedar Rapids police, fire department and ambulance arrived at the scene.

The name of the motorcyclist has not yet been released. The accident is still under investigation.
