Road rage incident escalates in Cranberry Township; man allegedly pointed a weapon

CRANBERRY, Pa. (KDKA) – A Cranberry Township man is facing charges after going too far in a road rage incident at the intersection of Routes 228 and 19.

“One of the people involved took a gun, waved it out the window and pointed it at the ground,” said Lt. Chuck Mascellino.

Investigators say it started after the victim honked at Jairo Cardona-Mancia because he almost hit her.

According to court documents, the 23-year-old pulled out the gun a second time as the victim drove behind him.

“Some people don’t handle it well. The idea would be to get to a safe place as quickly as possible and call 911,” Lt. Mascellino explained.

Cranberry Township Police advise that you do not follow the other driver or get out of your vehicle to confront them, but call police immediately.

“It’s understandable that emotions may be involved, but everyone’s safety comes first,” said Lt. Mascellino.

Cranberry Township Police responded and were eventually able to catch up with Cardona-Mancia.

According to investigators, he admitted to presenting the gun, which was discovered to have been stolen in Louisville, Kentucky.

According to the criminal complaint, officers found suspected cocaine with the intention of resale.

Police also discovered that Cardona-Mancia was driving without a license.
