APS Calendar 2024-2025: Breaks, Holidays and More

Here we’ve included a copy of the 2024-2025 Atlanta Public Schools (APS) calendar so you can plan for the year ahead.

APS includes schools and students in Fulton and DeKalb counties and other cities.

First day of school

The first day of school for the 2024-2025 school year is Thursday, August 1, 2024.

Vacations and breaks

The school year calendar includes several holidays and vacations.

The first school holiday is Labor Day, Monday September 2, 2024.

Monday, October 14 is a public holiday for Indigenous Peoples’ Day, and the remainder of this week is a public holiday for Fall Break, from Tuesday, October 15 to Friday, October 18, 2024. School resumes on Monday, October 14 . , 21st of October.

Tuesday, November 5 is a “Learning Day for Teachers and Professionals.” It’s also election day.

The Thanksgiving holiday will begin on Monday, November 25, 2024 and end on Friday, November 29, 2024.

Winter vacation will begin on Monday, December 23, 2024 and end on Monday, January 6, 2025. The second semester begins on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

MLK Holiday is Monday, January 20, 2025

A second winter break will take place from Monday February 17 to Friday February 21. School starts again on Monday February 24th.

Monday, March 17 is “Independent Learner Day/Professional Development Day.”

Spring break will begin on Monday, April 7 and end on Friday, April 11.

Monday, May 26 is Memorial Day and schools are closed.

Finally, the last day of school will be Thursday, May 29, 2025.
