“Major medical emergency” closes El Cerrito del Norte BART station

EL CERRITO — The El Cerrito del Norte BART station was closed Wednesday evening due to a “serious medical emergency,” according to the rapid transit system.

The emergency began around 6 p.m., BART spokeswoman Anna Duckworth said in a recorded message. The exact nature of the emergency was not immediately disclosed.

From 6:47 p.m. the trains drove through the area one at a time.

AC Transit provided mutual aid, with Route 72M making stops at the Richmond, El Cerrito del Norte and El Cerrito Plaza BART stations, Duckworth said.
