Several Buffalo Parks Damaged During July 4th Celebrations

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Several Buffalo parks sustained damage Thursday as residents celebrated the Fourth of July, city officials said.

Authorities said two baseball fields, one at Cazenovia Park and one at Riverside Park, were damaged by fireworks, and portions of the infields at both fields were burned. Repairs were underway Friday at each field.

Additionally, a large amount of debris was left around the Centennial Wading Pool at Ralph C. Wilson Park, delaying the water attraction’s opening Friday due to cleanup efforts, officials said.

Trash cans were also found burned at Shoshone Park, which authorities said was the result of fireworks.

Authorities have reminded residents to respect parks and clean up their surroundings. The damage to the parks is still being assessed.
