Porsche accident in Pune: Here are 5 things you should know about Bramha Realty’s Vishal Agarwal, Vedant Agarwal’s father

Pune real estate developer Vishal Agarwal’s 17-year-old son Vedant Agarwal has been in the news for the past five days because a Porsche belonging to the Agarwal family, allegedly driven by Vedant, crashed into a motorcycle on May 19, killing two people. The Agarwals are a well-known real estate developer in Pune and have been running businesses in Pune under the name Bramha for four decades. Here are five things you should know about the family’s business operations:

1) Business areas of the Agarwal family

The Agarwal family’s history goes back 40 years when Bramhadutt Agrawal founded BramhaCorp. The company is involved in residential, commercial and hospitality sectors, according to its website. The company is known for its luxury hotels such as Le Meridien Mahabaleshwar and Sheraton Grand in Pune.

The company is also involved in the construction of several residential projects in the mid-range and luxury segment in the Pune real estate market and several commercial projects in areas such as Budhwar Peth, Kalyani Nagar, Pune Camp and Bavdhan.

“We are currently planning over 2,000 residential apartments and 4 new hotels. In the not too distant future, mixed-use developments, integrated communities, upscale residential complexes and commercial spaces are also planned,” says BramhaCorp on its website.

2) Separation from the family business?

The Agarwal family recently split due to Covid-19. Vishal Agarwal is no longer associated with BramhaCorp and is running the business under the name Brahma, but with different suffixes, according to Pune-based real estate market consultants HT Digital.

Following the May 19 accident, BramhaCorp issued a statement on May 22 saying that some media reports had incorrectly listed Vishal Agarwal as the Managing Director/Director of BramhaCorp Limited. This information is misleading and false. Vishal Agarwal is the owner of Brahma Realty and Infrastructure Private Limited, which has no connection with BramhaCorp.

The company also clarified that there is no business collaboration or partnership with Vishal Agarwal’s company.

3) Business success

According to consultants in the Pune real estate market, the Agarwal family has been involved in the real estate business, mainly in the residential segment, for the past few years and even after Vishal Agarwal’s separation.

“The family has largely kept its promises and there have been no significant delays or failures in handing over the properties to buyers in Pune,” a senior executive at an international real estate consultancy firm in Pune told HT Digital.

Currently, Vishal and his wife Shivani Agarwal are involved in the construction of a project called Bramha Skycity Phase-3, a residential real estate project scheduled for completion in April 2026.

4) Award winners

The official website of Brahma Realty and Infrastructure is unavailable, but on Facebook the company boasts that Vishal Agarwal received a corporate award for outstanding achievements in real estate from former Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshiyari.

On the other hand, the official website of BrahmaCorp, run by the Agarwal family (except Vishal Agarwal), also boasts of its award-winning F Residences in Kalyani Nagar in Pune as the world’s first Fashion Condos in association with FashionTV, which is ranked among the top 15 real estate developers in Western India by CRISIL (Standard & Poors Rating).

5) Multiple real estate companies

Not just one, but Vishal Agarwal, along with his wife Shivani Agarwal and Shivkumar Agarwal, Vishal’s father, is involved in at least three real estate companies, according to statements made by the family to the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA).

The three companies include Bramha Leisures Pvt Ltd, Brahma Multicon Pvt Ltd and B and G Developers.
