New Houston Texans rookie thinks team is ready to get down to business

When you think of cornerbacks in the NFL, you generally think of them as coverage guys. Not exactly the hardest or toughest group. More Deion Sanders, less Troy Polamalu. Yes, Polamalu is a safety but the comparison stands. Corners are not known for their hardness.

This was the case, until today perhaps. Recently, the Houston Texans drafted Georgia cornerback Kamari Lassiter in the second round, despite running a 4.63 40-yard dash. This confused fans around the world. Not because the team took a corner they really needed help in that corner, but because they took one that wasn’t really known for its speed.

Yet it turns out he may be known for something else. Speaking to the media via the Houston Texans YouTube channel, Lassiter revealed that he will play wherever they want him to. Not only was he ready to play in the secondary, but Lassiter also revealed how serious he was going to be with the Texans, saying:

““I feel like the Texans are coming back with a different mindset. They bring a different approach to the game, and I feel like the staff brings in a lot of guys that have the same mindset – you know. , guys who really want to succeed, who are willing to eat off the floor – and I feel like I’m adding that to the team.

Lassiter has an uphill battle to prove that he has the skills and specifically the speed to play corner in the NFL, and while it seems like he may not be the prototypical speedster at the position, he seems have the right mentality. He doesn’t just want to settle in a place, he wants to earn it. He wants to prove his worth as a player and he seems to have a distinct advantage that few corners have.

What Lassiter lacks in top speed, he can more than make up for in power and determination.
