Rape: Father sentenced to 7 years in prison for raping his daughters | News from Chennai

Chennai: A special court for trying Pocso cases has sentenced a man to seven years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing his two daughters while in a drunken state. The girls’ mother had stated in her complaint that her husband repeatedly sexually abused her daughters, both below 12 years of age, and attacked her when she tried to stop him. The drunkard wanted more money and jewellery from the woman, and when she refused, he sexually abused his daughters. Based on a complaint from the woman, the all-women Kilpauk police station booked the father under the Pocso Act, among other charges. In July 2021, the man was arrested. Justice M. Rajalakshmi sentenced him to seven years in prison and a fine of ₹55,000. In addition, the judge ordered the Tamil Nadu government to pay ₹3,00,000 as compensation to both the survivors.
