Police dogs find man who fled from accident in Seymour

SEYMOUR, Connecticut (WTNH) – State Police sniffer dogs were able to track down a driver who fled the scene of an accident on Route 8 in Seymour last night.

According to authorities, around 10 p.m., a 1990 Nissan Sentra was traveling northbound in the right lane on Route 8. Directly behind the Nissan was a 1985 Mercedes Benz, driven by 34-year-old Brandon Graham of Bethany.

Officials say Graham struck the bumper of the Nissan, causing it to veer into the left lane and strike a concrete barrier in the median. The occupants of the Nissan, a 47-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Waterbury Hospital.

Graham’s vehicle was on the right shoulder, just north of the original collision. Before State Police Troop I arrived on the scene, Graham fled the scene.

The State Police tracking dog team was called and Graham was found at 91 Main Street. He denied any involvement in the accident. Graham was taken into custody without incident.

Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene of the accident.

Graham’s charges include the following:

  • Evasion of responsibility for bodily harm
  • Disability of an official
  • Driving a motor vehicle with a driving ban
  • Misuse of records
  • Driving a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Operation of an unregistered motor vehicle
  • Failure to maintain an appropriate distance and resulting collision between motor vehicles

Graham was released on $1,500 bail and will appear in Derby Superior Court on July 26.
