Springfield man arrested for drug possession in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG, Massachusetts (WGGB/WSHM) — A Springfield man was arrested on drug charges Thursday night in Williamsburg near Route 9.

According to Williamsburg police, officers conducted a traffic stop for a speeding car. During the stop, there were indications of suspected drug use.

After a search with the assistance of Easthampton Police and a sniffer dog, over five pounds of marijuana and some cocaine were found.

Officials said the 34-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possession and intentional resale, speeding and possession of an open bottle of alcohol.

The suspect was arraigned in Northampton District Court on Friday.
