MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Francine may have spoiled the excitement for Southern Heritage Classic competitors who lined up at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium on Thursday, but some say it was just the perfect day!

“Today is the day we stay inside. We wait for the rain to let up a bit and then we can go out and do some things,” said Gregory Summers, president of the Rolling Lions RV Club.

Gregory Summers is president of the Rolling Lions RV Club, a group of 50 members who enthusiastically support the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.

Summers said the beauty of their mobile home is that it comes equipped with everything they need.

“People say it’s raining and the weekend is just starting, so why rush? We have everything we need right here. We have food, we have something to drink, we have access to restrooms,” Summers said.

Other dedicated UAPB RV Club fans, who have traveled at least 170 miles, are holed up indoors, whipping up delicious food while staying dry, but they say they’re also planning their activities for when the rain stops.

“We put their awnings out, sit outside, gather around and do whatever we want. It’s just everyday life,” said Rufus Jackson, a member of the Rolling Lions RV Club.

Whatever the case, Francine doesn’t let the Southern Heritage Classic tailgaters spoil her ride through the Mid-South.

“We’re setting up tents and cooking under the tents. If we have to, there’s no stopping the Rolling Lions RV Club. They’re going to party and we’re going to have a great time. We’re going to cook and hang out and we’re just going to enjoy Memphis while we’re here,” said Aaron Austin, a member of the Rolling Lions RV Club.
