Larry Nance attracts more trade interest than Clint Capela this offseason

The Atlanta Hawks already made a big move this offseason by trading Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans, but there’s a chance more are on the way. The Hawks already have too many players on their roster. Atlanta currently has five centers on its roster and there has been a lot of speculation about the Hawks possibly trading Clint Capela. There were rumors early in the offseason that teams were interested in Capela and the Hawks were apparently trying to move him, but no deals were made.

A prominent NBA insider has suggested that a big player recently acquired by the Hawks could have a higher trade value than Capela at this point. NBA insider Marc Stein had this to say about Nance and Capela’s trade value:

The Hawks “have been trying to trade Capela for more than a year, but league sources say the Atlanta big man who is drawing the most outside interest is recently acquired Nance. Nance, who joined the Hawks in the recent Dejounte Murray trade, is reportedly being sought by multiple teams in need of a player with proven size.”

What the Hawks do with their roster over the next few weeks/months will be something to watch. The Hawks currently have Capela, Nance, Onyeka Okongwu, Bruno Fernando, and Cody Zeller under center. How many of those players will be on the roster when the season starts is up for debate. Both Nance and Capela should be interesting due to the fact that they are both good players with expiring contracts.

The Hawks are in Las Vegas for the start of Summer League tonight and it will be the first time Hawks fans will get to see Zaccharie Risacher on the court. It will be an exciting night to see the first overall pick in action. Atlanta will take on the Washington Wizards and the game will air on ESPN at 9:30pm EST.
