Man in critical condition after shooting in southeast Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) is investigating a shooting in southeast Fort Wayne that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

Officers responded to the 1500 block of Woodside Avenue around 10:20 p.m. Wednesday night after someone reported gunshots and a possible gunshot victim. Police found a man with gunshot wounds to the leg and administered first aid until paramedics arrived. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition.

Detectives and FWPD officers spoke with witnesses and searched the area for evidence. There is currently no information on a suspect, but police do not believe there is a threat to public safety.

The incident remains under investigation by Fort Wayne and Allen police.
