Cicero shooting: Portrillo liquor store employee shot during robbery; 2 suspects in custody, authorities say

CICERO, Ill. (WLS) – A man who worked at a western suburban liquor store was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon.

The 23-year-old victim was shot after confronting two male suspects who allegedly tried to steal a bottle of alcohol, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday at Portrillo Liquors, 2126 S. Cicero Ave. One of the suspects fired a single shot at the victim during the robbery, a Cicero spokesperson told ABC7.

The two suspects were later arrested after police identified a wanted vehicle. Their ages were not initially known.

Authorities continue to investigate the shooting.

No further information was immediately available from Cicero police.
