What is the Atlanta Falcons’ biggest need heading into training camp? Sporting News says it’s a long-standing problem

Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News revealed the biggest need for all 32 NFL teams as we move through minicamps and OTAs and head into training camp. According to Iyer, the Atlanta Falcons are plagued by the same need they’ve had for more than a decade: a standout pass rusher.

The Falcons, in hiding first-round quarterback Michael Penix Jr., passed over top defensive prospects such as Jared Verse and Dallas Turner to bolster their new defensive-minded coach, Raheem Morris.

After another year without devoting premium resources to solving the pass rush, Atlanta is banking on making huge strides in the development of young players like third-year edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie and rookie, that’s right, la rookie Bralen Trice. Other than that, there’s Lorenzo Carter, who is good for three to five sacks and about 15 pressures. It appears Atlanta is leaning on interior defensive playmakers like Grady Jarrett and David Onyemata to support the pass rush for 2024.

Other positions that could likely be included in the conversation are the cornerback and safety positions.
