Charles Haley Says ‘White Guy From Buffalo’ Josh Allen Is His Favorite Player

Charles Haley used to sack the Buffalo Bills quarterback in Super Bowls.

The current Bills signal-caller is his favorite NFL player.

Haley, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, was asked by Kay Adams on her show “Up & Adams” who he enjoyed watching most in the league.

Not Dallas’ Micah Parsons, San Francisco’s Nick Bosa or another defensive threat from Haley’s former teams.

This is Josh Allen.

“That white guy in Buffalo, he’s a quarterback. That’s my buddy, man,” Haley said, exuberant. That white guy. Hey, man. Jesus Christ. Oh, my God. Whoo.”

Adams couldn’t believe that Haley, a fierce defensive end and linebacker who had 100.5 career sacks, had picked an offensive player. Haley beat Buffalo in back-to-back Super Bowls with the Cowboys. He once smashed his helmet through a concrete wall in the locker room after a regular-season loss to the Bills.

“You watch that brother? Oh, I forgot he was white. But you watch that brother? You see what Josh does to those guys? He gets up like this. He rolls over them and gets up like this?” Haley said, making a gesture to lean over an opponent. “But I would have tapped him on the shoulder if I was playing and told him, ‘You’re never doing that again.’”

Haley played for the 49ers and Cowboys during his 14-year career, from 1986 to 1999, and is the first player to win the Super Bowl five times. Only Tom Brady (seven) has more Super Bowl titles than Haley.

Allen is continuing what Haley already has. He told the “Pardon My Take” podcast that he would retire if it guaranteed the Bills would win a Super Bowl next season.
