Fatal accident costs Monticello man his life

A Monticello man died in a crash on Interstate 16 at Highway 301 South Sunday evening. Joseph E. Edwards, 74, of Sprayberry Road in Monticello, was driving a 2011 Lincoln Towncar on the I-16 exit ramp at Highway 301 South around 7:41 p.m. Sunday, said Georgia State Patrol Post Trooper 45 Jonathan Malone. Edwards stopped and then collided with a 2009 Ford Focus driven by Frances Fay Smith, 45, of Brooks Brewton Road in Claxton.
