Freddy’s to expand its presence in Houston

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers continues its progression toward 800 restaurants by 2026 with new locations in the Lone Star State.

In its latest expansion, the fast-casual chain signed a new 20-unit development deal to bring new stores to Houston. The deal comes from the Lone Star Custard franchise group, made up of John, Nick and Joe DePinto – three brothers who grew up just outside of Dallas. In addition to the 20 restaurants in development, the DePinto brothers also acquired 18 existing Freddy’s locations in the Houston market as part of the deal.

The new agreement with Houston continues the growth trajectory of Freddy’s. As of January, the chain had more than 130 locations in development for the year. The goal was to open 800 restaurants by 2026.

“We are extremely proud of the impressive growth and success that the DePinto brothers have accomplished in the few years since they began their franchise with Freddy’s,” said Andrew Thengvall, Chief Development Officer. “Their achievements highlight the strength of our franchise system. We are excited to continue supporting Lone Star Custard as they bring Freddy’s signature quality and hospitality to even more communities across Texas.”

Lone Star Custard is familiar with the Freddy’s business model since beginning franchising with the brand in 2022. Prior to this deal, they had 24 restaurants open throughout Texas, including the San Antonio, Austin and Rio Grande markets Valley.

“Freddy’s resonates so deeply with us, from the military values woven throughout the brand, to their high-quality food and unwavering commitment to service. As a franchisor, Freddy’s provides invaluable guidance and support that is especially essential to us as franchisees,” said Nick DePinto. “We are incredibly proud to be part of a brand like Freddy’s and are excited to continue growing the brand in Texas.”
