Full stops, motorcycles and e-bikes can be dangerous. The old saying “It’s not a matter of if you crash, but when” is annoying, but also annoyingly true. As “Vampire Diaries” actress Nina Dobrev recently found out.

According to an Instagram post the actress shared on Monday, Dobrev was apparently riding an all-electric Sur-Ron when she had a minor accident. She captioned the post, “How it started vs. how it’s going,” and included two side-by-side pictures, one of her on the Sur-Ron and the next of her lying in a hospital bed.

In the second picture of her in the hospital, Dobrev is seen with a splint on her left leg, an IV in her arm and a neck brace. She looks into the distance and doesn’t seem particularly happy. However, she seems to be doing well and has already been discharged from the hospital as she later posted some updates.

Posting a handful of Stories to her account, Dobrev stated, “I’m doing well but still have a long road to recovery ahead of me,” followed by, “I think it’s safe to say my first time on a dirt bike will also be my first time.” Last lol. Dobrev also posted a selfie of himself on the hospital bed with a fake sad face.

Later, her partner – Olympian Shaun White – posted a picture of her looking out the window of a plane with a leg brace but no neck brace. Apparently her injuries weren’t serious enough to require her to stay in the hospital for long. Neither Dobrev nor White have since said anything about the accident, how it happened or Dobrev’s injuries.

However, the first picture of Dobrev on the Sur-Ron showed her without any safety gear, including a helmet. And while it doesn’t look like she has any scratches or road rash, riding without gear, even on a Sur-Ron, isn’t exactly the best idea.

There’s equipment for situations like this, so ride it, folks.
