Police search the home of Tonya Whipp’s boyfriend days after his arrest

AUBURNDALE, Fla. (WFLA) – Police say a search warrant was executed Saturday morning at the home of Russell Carroll, the boyfriend of missing woman Tonya Whipp.

Auburndale police said their officers and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement searched Carroll’s home on Caroline Avenue.

Although no “evidence of significant value” was found, investigators continued their search Sunday morning, according to police.

Authorities arrested Carroll on Tuesday after he was accused of illegally accessing Whipp’s checking account and diverting money to himself. His charges included grand larceny and unlawful use of personal identification information.

Carroll said he has not seen Whipp, who lived with him, since May 26, 2023. Investigators concluded their investigation with the conclusion that she was dead, but her body was never found.

On Friday, prosecutors asked for a higher bond for Carroll’s arrest because he was a flight risk. Court documents say he is the “only suspect in the murder investigation.”
