Conway Corp. will announce a mandatory water restriction on Friday

Due to a water main break in the raw water line from Brewer Lake to the Roger Q Mills water treatment plant, Conway Corp is temporarily unable to regularly pump treated water to customers.

The water quality is not affected and the water is still drinkable, the company said.

Emergency measures to fix the water main will begin on Friday, September 13, when Conway Corp plans to issue a mandatory water restriction notice at 8 a.m.

There are several ways to save water during the lockdown period, including:

  • Stop watering completely. Do not water trees, lawns, grass or other vegetation.
  • Postpone laundry and dishwashing during the restriction
  • Do not wash vehicles, boats, etc. and do not water driveways, sidewalks or buildings.
  • Do not fill, refill or add to indoor or outdoor swimming pools, hot tubs or fountains.
  • Only shower when absolutely necessary. Turn off the water when washing your hair.
  • Turn off the water while brushing your teeth.

Conway Corp is asking all residential and commercial water users for support and participation as crews work on repairs.

According to a press release, activities such as watering the garden, washing cars, extensive use of dishwashers and washing machines, and taking long showers will help community members have enough water to meet basic needs.

Customers will be informed about the lifting of the service restriction or any further measures that may be necessary.
