Another shopper said the “announcement was not clear at all” and there were scenes of panic.

“We went straight to the cinemas and waited in line, and suddenly the staff said, ‘We have to go, we have to go,'” they said.

“We didn’t know what happened… It wasn’t clear what happened.”

ABC reporter Matthew Smith interviewed a woman who was involved in the evacuation.

She was watching a movie at the mall when she heard an emergency alarm.

“All of a sudden everyone came running, running towards us and shouting ‘Run, run!'” she said.

“We had no idea it was a drill or that something was happening.”

The SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) reports that two patients are currently being treated.

The service is treating a woman in her 70s with a shoulder injury and a person in her 30s with a knee injury, a SAAS spokesman said.

The injuries of both patients are not life-threatening.

ABC reporter Matthew Smith said there were currently “a lot of flashing lights and a lot of streets blocked off” around the center.

He said he spoke to a lady who went to the optician when the evacuation order was given.

“She said they were asked to leave the building and she stayed there, kept her appointment and now left the building,” he said.

ABC reporter Matthew Smith has spoken out following reports of the unrest.

Smith said signs were posted at Westfield Marion alerting shoppers of the evacuation.

“I just spoke to a Myer employee five minutes ago who said she was escorted out of the building but there were still employees inside,” he told ABC News Channel.

“She says they are safe, but the details of what happened are very vague. There is a lot of confusion.”

Police will provide further details to the media at 5:30 p.m.

Numerous patrols are on site and the police are asking the public to avoid the area.

The SA Ambulance Service (SAAS) told ABC that paramedics were treating two patients with non-life-threatening injuries.

A woman in her 70s suffered a shoulder injury and a person in her 30s suffered a knee injury, SAAS said.

SAAS said one of the patients would be transferred to Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.

The authorities have erected fences around the shopping center.
