Houston Texans’ CJ Stroud reflects on international trip to teach football

The Houston Texans have completely turned things around as a franchise as they make their way to Super Bowl contention, looking to win their first Lombardi Trophy in history. In doing so, quarterback CJ Stroud became a bona fide star before his sophomore season even began.

Stroud’s star power is not only felt on the field, but off the field as well. He had the opportunity to travel to Asia alongside Dallas Cowboys superstar Micah Parsons to help develop the game. During the OTAs, Stroud had the opportunity to talk about his travels and his ability to share the game he loves.

“It was incredible,” Stroud said. “First of all, thank you to Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo for accepting me and Micah (Parsons) with open arms. The hospitality and culture there is just amazing. They want to learn more about football, and it was It’s cool to see that they already have the basics, but they want to grow from there.

Football is by far the most popular sport in the United States. But on a global scale, football dominates. The NFL, however, is looking to help expand football into more homes and globalize the sport. Stroud having a personal brand strong enough to play a part in it alongside Parsons is an incredible feat.

“I think football is a family sport, and like these people are family now. The Olympics are coming to where they’re going to be international with flag football. I think it’s super dope,” Stroud continued. “To be able to step foot in these doors already, it’s pretty cool. I’m very grateful to my team, Bernie and David, for putting this together. Even the guys who gave us top-notch hospitality.”

Stroud and Parsons were able to do much more during their journey outside of football, including baseball diamonds and sumo, and many other things happened along the way.

“It was just amazing, the whole experience,” Stroud said. It’s the first time I’ve really gotten out of the country and I can just go to the Great Wall of China and all that and still do what I love to do. Training with Micah was cool. He has a lot of crazy takes, but I have love for this guy. But it was fun.”

Stroud threw for 4,108 passing yards and 23 touchdowns during his rookie campaign, which spanned 15 appearances. He is an NFL star and projects to be successful at the professional level for years to come. It will only become more and more popular with more games and primetime hits.
