Police investigate attempted murder in Ginnie Springs

The Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are on the scene looking for possible witnesses and an “uninvolved suspect.”

GILCHRIST COUNTY, Fla. – An investigation is ongoing following an attempted murder in Ginnie Springs Saturday night, the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office said.

At around 11:30 p.m., police responded to a report of attempted murder on a street in Ginnie Springs between Devil’s Spring and the subway station. No further details about the incident were immediately released.

The Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement are on the scene looking for possible witnesses and an “uninvolved suspect.”

Investigators are looking for a woman in her early 20s, approximately 5’10” to 6’11” tall, with long braids and light-tinted contact lenses. Police said the woman was last seen wearing a green swimsuit top and brightly patterned swim trunks.

The woman was in the area and was last seen walking toward the park exit, according to police.

Ginnie Springs announced via social media Sunday morning that the park was temporarily closed, adding that visitors would be informed when admission was reopened.

The popular resort’s website states that Memorial Day weekend is an “adult weekend with a party atmosphere” and is not recommended for children.
