Srinagar- Another prisoner, who was injured in a gas cylinder explosion at Kupwara Sub-Jail earlier this month, has succumbed to his injuries, bringing the death toll to two.

Quoting an official, GNS news agency reported that one Syed Tauseef Geelani, son of Syed Mohammad Geelani, a resident of Chetkheri Karnah, was admitted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries today.

“The body has arrived in Kupwara and has been handed over to the family for last rites,” the official said.

Interestingly, the prisoner, he learnt, was granted bail only yesterday in a case under FIR number 01/2023.

It may be mentioned here that on July 19, 2024, nine prison inmates were injured when a gas cylinder exploded in Kupwara Sub-Jail.
