Girl (11) from Mpumalanga murdered: Suspect arrested – LNN

The man suspected of raping and brutally killing 11-year-old Lwandle Siphesihle Masuku has been arrested after being on the run for nearly two weeks.

Breyton police arrested him yesterday.

On August 25, Masuku’s family and police found her body with numerous stab wounds near the suspect’s hut. Police suspect the girl was also raped.

Before the gruesome discovery, Masuku’s mother had reported her missing and informed Hendrina police that her sister’s boyfriend might have information about her daughter’s disappearance.

When police visited the suspect’s house on a farm in Hendrina, they found blood stains and discovered Masuku’s body about 100 metres away.

Acting Mpumalanga police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli said the suspect was out on R5 000 bail at the time of his arrest for allegedly murdering a 31-year-old man in February.
