RCSD: Former MP arrested for drunk driving

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC (WOLO)– A former Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputy was arrested Thursday for drunken driving, RCSD said.

According to RCSD, 34-year-old Michael Kennedy was arrested by West Columbia Police on Thursday, July 11, for drunk driving.

Kennedy has been suspended without pay effective immediately and is no longer employed, the sheriff’s department said.

He had been with the Sheriff’s Department since August 2023.

“We are all responsible for the decisions we make and the consequences that result from those decisions. My deputies know that they will be held accountable if they break the law,” explains Sheriff Leon Lott.
