Swiss logistics technology company opens US headquarters in Dunwoody (June 6, 2024)

A robotics and logistics software provider is setting up its North American headquarters in the wooded Terraces office park in Dunwoody.

Swisslog has leased a full floor, approximately 26,000 square feet, at North Terraces, the 11-story, 535,000 square foot building located in the central perimeter. North Terraces is part of the two-building Terraces campus that includes another 533,000 square foot office building directly across the street from Perimeter Mall.

“Atlanta has become a leading global supply chain hub, home to distribution centers, offices and headquarters of some of the largest companies in the supply chain industry,” said Sean Wallingford, CEO of Swisslog Americas, in a press release.

JLL’s Glenn Aspinwall and Brooke Dewey represented the building’s owner, MetLife. Brennan Koslow of JLL represented Swisslog.

LEASES

Newell Brands has signed a 180,000 square foot lease at the Queen Building at the Concourse Corporate Center for its new headquarters. The company, maker of Sharpie pens, is moving from its current home at 6655 Peachtree Dunwoody Road.

Luxury watch brand Rolex is coming to Lenox Square with a new 3,300-square-foot retail store, according to a permit filed with the city of Atlanta. The mall’s owner, Simon Property Group, has filed an application to build the store for $600,000.

MISSIONS

B Group Capital Management tapped Matt Fergus, Seabie Hickson, Michael Howell and Gil Russell of Lincoln Property Company Southeast to lease Ameris Center, the 532,000-square-foot, two-building office complex in Buckhead at 3490 and 3500 Piedmont Road . Group B recently purchased the property for an undisclosed amount. The previous owner was Angelo Gordon, according to Fulton County records.

The Georgia World Convention Center Authority has hired Fuqua Development and Pope & Land to redevelop an 11-acre parcel called the Home Depot Backyard, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.

The site, which could see up to 250,000 square feet of commercial development, connects the Georgia World Congress Center to Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Signia by Hilton Atlanta hotel, according to ABC.

SALES

Ashford Hospitality Trust has sold three Atlanta-area hotels to two different buyers.

Baywood Hotels purchased the 85-room Hampton Inn Lawrenceville, while Pulse Hotel Group acquired the 86-room Fairfield Inn & Suites and the 90-room SpringHill Suites Atlanta Kennesaw.

Pulse paid $17.1 million for the two hotels and Baywood paid $8.1 million, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing. David Perrin, senior vice president of Hunter Hotel Advisors, represented Ashford.

Atlanta Financial Center in Buckhead

FUNDING

Sumitomo Corporation of Americas extended its $150 million loan for the Atlanta Financial Center, a 915,000-square-foot office complex straddling a highway in Buckhead, Bisnow reported. Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, the banking arm of the Crédit Agricole group, drafted the initial loan. It is unclear whether the bank remains the holder of the amended loan. Sumitomo paid $222.5 million for the complex in 2016.

STAFF

Partners Real Estate, which just opened its Atlanta office, has hired Chad Koenig and Katelyn Fabian from Cushman & Wakefield as partner and vice president, respectively, ABC reported.

The duo will work with former Cushman & Wakefield executive John O’Neill, who was hired by Houston-based Partners earlier this year to run the Atlanta office and lead its Southeast expansion .

DEVELOPMENT

The Cobb County School District is seeking to develop a new events facility at 650 S. Cobb Drive and 460 Glover St., according to a regional impact development application.

The facility, on a 10-acre site in Marietta, would have a 148,000-square-foot arena with up to 8,150 seats and a 49,000-square-foot conference center with a banquet hall, according to Requirement.

Satellite Commercial Properties plans to develop a 115-room Element by Westin hotel at 2140 Satellite Blvd. in Gwinnett County, What Now Atlanta reported. The Marriott extended-stay brand would rise five stories and span 79,000 square feet.
