1. 2 families hospitalized after house explosion in Syracuse, 3 children seriously injured

Two families who were in a Carbon Street home that exploded Tuesday afternoon were taken to a hospital for treatment, according to city Fire Chief Michael Monds. The victims were a mix of adults and children. All 13 people have been found, authorities said.

It’s typically an uphill climb for Republican candidates in some state office races in Central New York. However, two Republican candidates have stepped up and hope to reverse this trend.

3. Central New York school districts approve revised budgets

Residents of the Ithaca City School District said yes to the $163 million spending plan and $1.6 million to purchase new vehicles, including two electric buses. In the Newfield Central School District, the proposed $25.4 million budget also passed by a vote of 387-261.

4. Baty expands on-field horizons for Syracuse Mets

The New York Mets’ first overall draft pick in 2019, Baty is on a tear at the Triple-A level for Syracuse. In nine games this season, he has a 1.166 bases-plus-slugging average, hitting .395 with three home runs and 11 RBIs.
