First People Buffalo Jump Celebrates Visitor Center’s 25th Anniversary With Summer Talks

First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park near Ulm is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the opening of its visitor center with activities in the park this summer.

A weekly “Jump Talk” will take place at the top of the buffalo jump every Sunday from May 26 to September 1.

Discussions will begin at 1 p.m. and will last approximately 30 minutes.

The free lectures will focus on the park and the sacred sites there and will focus on how the First Peoples hunted bison from the cliff’s edge.

Discussions may be canceled in the event of bad weather.

  • June 1: National Trails Day Hike
  • June 8: Snake Hike
  • June 10: Bear Aware Program
  • July 13 and 14: Kite Festival
  • August 10-11: Mammoth hunting
  • September: Park Star Party

First Peoples Buffalo Jump Park is located 3.5 miles north of Ulm, just off I-15 at exit 270.

Montana residents are entitled to free daily entry to all state parks by paying the vehicle registration fee.

Non-resident vehicles must purchase a pass to access the park.
