Police are searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run crash in Waterbury over the weekend that killed a pedestrian.

The vehicle involved is believed to be a 2003 and 2007 four-door Honda Accord that reportedly drove away from the scene of the accident shortly after 2:10 a.m. Saturday on Chase Avenue, according to a statement from Lt. Ryan Bessette emerges from the Waterbury Police Department.

The Honda may have damage to the front end and may be missing the driver’s side mirror, Bessette said.

Bessette said investigators believe the Honda was involved in the crash that killed 46-year-old Dwayne Hunter of Waterbury. Hunter was found at the scene with injuries before being taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Police late Monday released several photos of the Honda they believe was involved and asked the public for help identifying the driver.

The accident remains under investigation by the Waterbury Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit.
