Suspect arrested 10 months after his death

Police have arrested a man suspected of killing and sexually assaulting a Maryland woman Rachel Morin last year.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office announced on June 15 that with the help of federal police Victor Martinez-Hernandez was taken into custody in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on suspicion of murder and rape in connection with the 2023 killing of the 37-year-old mother of five.

“So far, we have learned that the suspect now pictured on the screens is a 23-year-old citizen of El Salvador who illegally crossed the border into the United States in February 2023,” said Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler he said at a press conference, later adding: “The charges in this case are premeditated murder and first-degree rape.”

Martinez-Hernandez was booked into a Tulsa County jail shortly after midnight on June 15 and is expected to be extradited to Maryland, Gahler said. The suspect was also taken into custody by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to await possible transfer to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to court documents obtained by E! News. He is being held without bail on a fugitive from justice charge. He has not been assigned an attorney.
