Serious incident involving two A320 aircraft on the runway at Mumbai Airport

Two Airbus A320 aircraft were involved in a serious incident on a runway in Mumbai, India.

On June 8, an Air India Airbus A320 and an IndiGo A320 were involved in a runway accident in Mumbai, India.

The two aircraft came so close to each other that the pilots had to decide whether to land or take off without maintaining a safe distance.

The Air India A320 with registration VT-RTS was on the departure pad for flight AI657, while the IndiGo A320 with registration VT-ISV arrived as flight 6E5053.

This incident occurred at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) on runway 27R and involved a scenario in close proximity to the runway.

As seen in the footage, the IndiGo A320 landed just seconds after the Air India A320 took off from Runway 27 in Mumbai.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India, has acted swiftly and removed an air traffic controller from Mumbai Airport (BOM) following an incident involving two A320 aircraft (IndiGo and Air India) on runway 27R.
