Buffalo Bills sign UDFA LB Shayne Simon and designate OL Tommy Doyle as waived/injured

The Buffalo Bills signed undrafted free agent linebacker Shayne Simon and designated offensive lineman Tommy Doyle as waived/injured.

Simon joined the Bills after a college career in Pittsburgh. The 6’2″, 230 pound, 24-year-old linebacker spent the last two seasons playing for the Pitt Panthers after four years at Notre Dame.

Upon his transfer to Pittsburgh, Simon found a better opportunity. With Pitt, Simon had 94 tackles (52 solo), 13 tackles for loss, seven sacks, plus one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

For Tommy Doyle, this marks the end of his career with the Buffalo Bills. An offensive lineman who once showed great promise, Doyle’s time at One Bills Drive has been marred by multiple injuries, including a torn ACL in 2022 and a knee injury during preseason action in 2023 that cost him all the season.

Doyle’s most memorable play came against the New England Patriots in the Bills’ AFC Wild Card playoff game on January 15, 2022. During the fourth quarter of that game, Tommy Doyle caught a touchdown from the quarterback Josh Allen.

Seemingly unable to return to the field at this point, Doyle must now look for his next opportunity outside of Orchard Park, New York. Carrying a voided/injured designation notifies the NFL of Doyle’s injury. He now becomes eligible for the league’s waiver form, where he can either be claimed or enter free agency if no team submits a claim.
