Bills QB Josh Allen realistically weighs in on NFL/NBA player debate

The Buffalo Bills returned to Orchard Park this week as this year’s organized team activities began, which usually leads to a lot of curveball questions from reporters and reporters trying to get some sort of snippet sound from the NFL’s biggest stars.

A question that’s been circulating this offseason, from pundits to podcasters, is “Which NFL player could play in the NBA?” » That’s a great assumption and feels like an ego check for NFL players. Especially if you’re Dallas Cowboys forward Micah Parsons, who obviously thinks he could be a starter in the NBA, saying, “It’s not that hard to dunk.” »

This is an oversimplification of a sport that takes years of practice, training, nuance and skill. NBA superstar Paul George participated in this debate last spring, believing that an NFL player couldn’t move on to the NBA because NFL players couldn’t shoot the ball.

But what does star quarterback Josh Allen think of this debate?

“I think I could give good minutes, be a 3-D guy. I’m going to bust my tail on defense, throw a few shots and pray they go in.

Allen also said he thinks he can get some rebounds, and also said there are guys who could play both in both sports at a high level. A nice, impartial response from a man known for his neutrality during press conferences.

So who is the NBA roster for Allen? People have been throwing Luka Doncic everywhere, and in terms of comparing talents in their respective sports, this would be perfect. But in terms of Allen’s actual NBA roster? It would be a guy like Donte DiVincenzo. These are two guys who are pretty athletic off the dribble, fight on defense, believe in the process and make shots.

Would DiVincenzo be more effective? Yes. But Allen has the potential to be a spark off the bench, bringing size and energy to most NBA lineups, making him one of the best NBA-NFL crossover players in the league.
